POSITION TITLE: Yangtze River Project Coordinator, China Program
SUPERVISOR: Yangtze River Project Manager
LOCATION: Beijing, China
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Yangtze River Project of China Program aims to reduce negative impacts of water resource development to surrounding wildlife habitat and ecosystems, maintaining and restoring fresh water ecological health of Yangtze River. This position is designed to be responsible for providing administrative, research, coordination support and other general assistance to project staff working toward the achievement of fresh water protection goals in the Yangtze River.

DUTIES:
  • Support Project Manager in project management related tasks.
  • Serve as the focal liaison point for the Yangtze River Project with partners; help with resolving issues to ensure project execution successfully.
  • Work together with project manager and other team staff to establish fundraising priorities and strategies.
  • Work together with project leaders and project members on project plan and implementation of the work plan.
  • Draft, edit and finalize project-related materials, including proposals, reports, letters and other forms of communication.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of information between outside parties and program staff.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master's degree in Hydrology, Water Resources, Hydroelectric Engineering or related field, those with 2-4 years related work experience would be priority.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, with assignments sometimes coming from a number of sources and work independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience utilizing databases for data entry and report production preferred.
  • Strong administrative skills including attention to detail and numerical ability. Ability to plan, administer and record results of work-team meetings and activities.
  • Fluent English and Chinese language skills: spoken, reading and writing.
  • Proven ability to produce tangible results and work independently.
  • High standard of excellence combined with a flexible approach to achieving those standards.
  • A passion for nature conservation in China.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a number of staff, sometimes under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form, with the public, donors, members, scientists, preserve staff and others, providing and obtaining needed information.
  • Ability to function productively as a member or leader of a work team.
  • Familiarity with standard business communications; ability to write and edit correspondence.
  • Provide a variety of information to staff and others, contributing to conservation projects and assisting workflow throughout the organization.
